In 1994 BRMC Ambulance provided medical care and direction for the movie "Best of the Best 3". Gina Gershon played the lead female role. They filmed some carnival scenes in Martinsville, and my friend John and I were there to watch things. During lunch Miss Gershon was piddling around in the food trailer and she served us our lunch. Then she came over and ate lunch with us. She was very friendly, and talked our ear off. She is a cutie, and very nice.
Since then she's been in several well-known films..."Showgirls", "Face/Off" with Nicholas Cage and John Travolta, "Palmetto" with Woody Harrelson, "Bound" with Jennifer Tilly, "Driven" with Sylvester Stallone.
Mr. McDonald was also filming scenes in Martinsville for the movie "Best of the Best 3". He played the sheriff, and the good guy. He is a real nice guy, and will talk to you forever.
Since then he's been in a bunch of well-known films..."The Tuskegee Airmen", "Happy Gilmore", "Flubber", "Leave It To Beaver", "Dirty Work"...follow the link below to see them. I wasn't familiar with him at the time, but he'd already been in several good films..."Thelma and Louise", "Dutch", "Grumpy Old Men". He usually plays the bad guy or a jerk, but that's just the opposite of the real guy.
Christopher McDonald films
It's nice to see Gina Gershon and Christopher McDonald doing new projects, especially when they do well commercially.
You realize they are just normal people, doing a job that they enjoy.
In May 1999 I went to Louisville to a 98 Degrees concert with my ambulance partner, Susie Gilstrap. The person who was supposed to go with her cut out at the last moment, so she invited me to go with her. Britney Spears and some girl band were the opening acts for 98 Degrees. By the time we got to the concert Britney Spears had already finished and was signing autographs in the lobby. I was surprised to find out that she was a white girl, and a cute one at that. From hearing her music I thought she was black. After the girl band finished playing we went back out to the lobby and got something to drink. Britney Spears was handing out cassette singles of her song. She gave one to Susie, then asked me if I wanted one. I said 'sure'. I don't think I ever listened to the cassette. Back then she wasn't very famous yet, and to me she was just some girl handing out cassette tapes. Now she's a superstar!
