Here are some pictures of my homemade bedcover...still a work in progress. Since I have a toolbox I can't buy anything standard. Besides, I don't want to spend big $$ on a bedcover. My main goal is to see if I can improve my gas mileage a little. It will also provide a little bit of security and weather protection.
I cut the crossboards with an arch to allow water drainage and to have the appearance of a tonneau cover.
I used the stake pockets as mounting points.
I still haven't found a material to cover this with. I'd like something black, and fairly waterproof. Any suggestions?
I finally found some covering at the Joann Fabric store in Bloomington. Best of all, it was on sale...I got 6 yards for $20.
Not bad for a $50 project. I'll see how it holds up to the weather.
