![]() This is my first car...a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am. It has a 4 bbl. W72 400 V-8 with a 4-speed transmission. I bought it in 1981. It was my main transportation from 1981-85 during my college years. It had 41,000 miles when I bought it. It now has around 85,000 miles. In 1985 I bought a Jeep and the car was retired to an easy life of sitting in the garage under a car cover. Above is the hood of my Trans Am. The car was repainted in 1985 with black acrylic laquer and the bird and all the lettering were airbrushed. We made the bird larger by adding more 'feathers'. All the paint work was done by Pat Porter of Pat's Paint & Body in Terre Haute, IN. The Trans Am has Cragar Super Sport wheels and B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A tires. I put a Herb Adams suspension/handling kit on it. The hood scoop is now functional, the engine has an Edelbrock intake manifold, and the carburetor and ignition have been modified with kits from H-O Racing. I have a Competition Cams 268 cam kit and a set of Hooker headers that I've been meaning to install for the past 10 years or so. Inside the car the 8-track player it came with has given way to a Sony CD player, Sony equalizer, Sherwood 4-channel amplifier, and Sony speakers. Click here for more Trans Am pictures.
