Dad stopped by one day while I was at work and put up a nailer on the gable trusses.
I went to Menards after work and picked up the metal. It doesn't look like much when it's packed up, but there's a lot of metal there.
Today we framed in all four windows. I don't know if there is a standard way to frame pole barn windows but this is how we did it.
Here's a view of the outside of the window.
On the side garage door opening we had to frame it a little differently. Because the truss girt intrudes into the headroom above the door we had to frame the door flush with the truss girt. This allows the door springs and track to be in the same plane.
The front doors are framed flush with the posts.
We installed the side entry door. I got it at Graber Post.
Because the floor has slope we installed boards that will serve as stops for the garage doors and as grade lines when I bring in more gravel.
Today all we had to do was tie into the existing garage. We put up some 2x6s to mimic the roofline...
...and then filled it in with a 2x4. This will serve as a base for the flashing between the two buildings.
Now we're ready to install the metal.
