![]() A year or so ago I started thinking about replacing my 1999 Ford F250 and 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD. I wanted something trouble free as I approached retirement age. Initially I considered a Toyota Tundra. A couple guys have them at work and they really like them. I like their looks, drivetrain, and proven Toyota reliability. Donna has a 2003 Toyota Highlander with almost 300,000 miles on it and it has been rock solid...knock on wood. I did have a couple reservations, however. Donna has a 29-ft camper and going from a 3/4-ton truck to a 1/2-ton truck would be a towing downgrade. Also, if I got rid of the Liberty I would lose its utility. One day while searching for Tundras I noticed the Toyota Sequoia. Hmmmmmmmmm...a nice SUV based on the Tundra. Very interesting! I think I have found the vehicle to get. Donna and I both liked the gray color. I liked the SR5 version because of the wheels. I noticed during my research that there was a 'premium upgrade package' that included leather seats and a few nice options. After a few months of internet searching I looked at one in Indianapolis at a car dealer. It was advertised as 'excellent condition' but it was beat to hell. Later I found another one at Amhearst Toyota near Cleveland. A gray 2015 with the premium upgrade package, navigation, and remote start. On May 1, 2020 Donna and I made a road trip and picked it up. So far we love it! Comfortable, tons of room and storage. We almost didn't get the Sequoia. Prior to our arrival a guy had came in and test drove it. He offered $1000 under the sales price. His offer was rejected and he left. What the salesman and the potential buyer didn't know was the internet price was $400 less than what he had offered. Thanks to their lack of information we were able to come home with the Sequoia.
- LED lights - I replaced the headlights with S-V.4 bulbs and the interior lights with a kit from Ebay.
